EU-citizens no longer required to register with the Migration board

22 April 2014

Employees and students who are European citizens and who are staying in Sweden for longer than three months to work or study, are not obliged to register their right of residence with the Migration board as of 1 May.

EU-citizens have the right to study in Sweden without a residence permit and to work without a work permit. However, all EU-citizens are required to register their right of residence with the Migration board if they are staying for a period longer than three months. Last week, the Migration board announced that the registration is no longer a requirement as of 1 May.

The news can be found on the Migration board's web page.
